In 1990 the Bronte Outer Harbour was created after years of talks and negotiations. From 300 boat slips, a gas dock, a Cape Codstyle office building, a haul out slip with marine travel lift, boat storage facility, new public bathrooms, a playground and the construction of a large banquet centre with restaurant were added.

As early as the turn of the century, the Civic holiday has been a time for the citizens of Bronte to celebrate their village. In those days, the festival highlights would be the games which included: foot races, baby show, ladies naildriving contest, swimming goose chase, double skull race for ladies and gentleman, walking greasy pole, canoe tilting and canoe races (Turcotte 105).

The Bronte Steam Mills were built by the company, Jones, Williams, and Cummer on the west side of Trafalgar Street between Triller Street and Chisholm Street. At that time, it was one of the largest steam grist mills in Ontario. A threestorey building with a tall, brick smokestack, the steam grist mill was a Bronte landmark for nearly a century.

After the local decline of the wheat industry in 1887, the citizens of Bronte turned to commercial fishing. By the turn of the century Bronte harbour had 22 fishing vessels (more than Port Credit and Burlington Beach). At this time the steam mill, under new ownership, began fabricating metal products, transforming itself into a stamp mill.
